The Department performs professional, administrative and other duties within the jurisdiction of the Government relating to: enforcement of laws and regulations of the competent authorities and institutions of BiH and District in the field of agriculture, forestry and water management, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, development, protection and effective use of forest and agricultural stock and animal breeding. 

It also covers sectors of:

• Protection and enhancement of forest
• Proposing investment policy development and pricing policies in agriculture and forestry
• Market intervention and reserve in the fields of agriculture
• Rural Development
