The Directorate General for Energy Efficiency and Security is mandated to: 

• promote renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency as well as thermal gasification,

• improve the legislative framework, 

• coordinate the management of exploration and exploitation of oil and gas as well as the management of the pipeline construction and the underground fuel tanks, 

• implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. 

Directorate is sub divided into three units:

• Department of energy infrastructure

• Department of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources

• Department of heat production and supply
