Fuels of the Future - 12th International Conference on Biofuels

image

The highlight event of the German biofuels industry, with more than 500 participants from 30 countries, is a central meeting point for the exchange with German and international representatives from politics, industry and science. With the introduction of the country partnerships in 2015, the conference will provide a new format for this exchange of expertise. This year's partner country Poland will provide the participants with first-hand information on the local biofuel markets and their policy frameworks.

The comprehensive programme covers a diversity of all topics relevant to biofuels (see below).

On the opening day, the focus will be on  framework conditions. During the plenary sessions, Katherina Reiche, MdB (Parliamentary State Secretary, German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure) and Humberto Delgado Rosa (European Commission, Directorate-General for Climate Action), among others, will talk about how concepts for the mobility of the future can be best implemented in Germany and Europe and whether the role of traffic emissions has been correctly assessed in the EU's 2030 Climate and Energy Package.

During the podium discussions, we will address these questions in more depth from the perspective of industry, the European Commission and a non-governmental organisation. The discussion will be led by Karel Beckman, editor-in-chief of “Energy Post”, and include Zygmunt Gzyra (President of the Polish National Chamber of Biofuels), Pekka Pesonen (Secretary General COPA / COGECA), Thomas Frewer (Head of Strategy & Portfolio, BP Europe SE), Andreas Pilzecker (European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy) and Faustine Defossez (European Environmental Bureau).

A total of 12 forums will then deal with a broad range of topics from all areas of biofuels: German and international experts will present the latest from technical development, research, certification, market analysis and trade and engage in discussions with the conference participants. Topics to be covered include:

  • EU fuels policy and decarbonisation of transport. What can be expected for the year 2020 and beyond?
