Primarily a car manufacturer, promoting power-trains and fuels that use renewable materials. Develops advanced engines designed for the use of ethanol blended fuels, prepared for concentrations of up to ten percent by volume bioethanol (E10). It is involved with other groups in assessing ethanol from cellulose, and in June 2011 established a partnership with ADM on auto biofuel research. Led the OPTFUEL project to demonstrate the production of BtL-based fuels made from wood and wood residues. Also involved in testing of biogas in buses.
