The Ministry of the Economy carries out administrative and other tasks related to development and competitiveness, improvement of the Croatian economy, instruments and measures of the economic policy. Its activities also embrace: 

• industrial policy and innovation and new technologies policy, 

• managing  funds for the promotion of industry, 

• tasks related to implementation and use of intellectual and industrial property rights 

• promotion of creativity in industry and commerce in order to develop competitiveness of the Croatian economy, 

• energy policy, 

• mining, 

• strategy to facilitate and promote investment and exports.

The Ministry, together with other relevant state administration bodies, participates in the coordination of state property management strategy, including:

• participation in the coordination of recovery and restructuring of legal entities; 

• making analysis in the restructuring processes of the companies owned by the Republic of Croatia; 

• management of equity shares in companies owned by the Republic of Croatia; 

• trade activity on the EU internal market; 

• supply and prices; 

• national coordinating activity on the EU internal market
