Advanced biofuels demonstrations and R&D Projects in Finland
- UPM Lappeenranta Biorefinery, producing wood-based renewable diesel from forestry residue, started commercial production in January 2015.
- Ministry of Employment and Economy in Finland has granted €30m to Suomen Bioetanoli Oy to support development of a 90 MMly commercial cellulosic ethanol plant at Myllykoski using technology developed by Poe/DSM [Source: www.tem.fi and Poet DSM].
- North European Bio Tech Oy (NEB) is investing €40m 10m l/y cellulosic ethanol plant at Kajaani, Finland, using local sawdust as a feedstock. The plant will be implemented and operated by St1 Biofuels Oy.
- 160 MW thermal waste gasifier in Lahti, Finland, uses Solid Recovered Fuel SRF
- Green Fuel Nordic Oy biorefinery in Iisalmi, using Rapid Thermal Processing™ RTP technology.
